The most comprehensive and authoritative collection of Poe’s poetry and tales was edited by Thomas Ollive Mabbott (1898-1968). Although some questions were raised in regard to Mabbott’s selection of copy-texts, the edition has long been ensconced as a standard reference for Poe scholarship

Emily Dickinson Archive (EDA) provides high-resolution images of manuscripts of Dickinson’s poetry, along with transcriptions and annotations from selected historical and scholarly editions. This first release focuses on gathering images of those poems included in The Poems of Emily Dickinson: Variorum Edition, edited by R. W. Franklin (Cambridge: Belknap Press of the Harvard University Press, 1998). These manuscripts vary from “scraps” written on envelope flaps and pieces of wrapping paper; to drafts; to finished poems sent to friends or copied into the manuscript books called “fascicles

The listing below of Emerson's Complete Works comes from the 12 volume Centenary Edition, originally published in 1903-04 by Houghton Mifflin and Company, with Notes and Commentary by Emerson's son Edward. The Centenary edition, was subsequently republished by AMS Press in 1968, with a second edition published in 1979 with a new Introduction by Joel Myerson. Scholars and those interested in the most accurate and recent editions of The Collected Works, are referred to the Belnap Press of the Harvard University Press Series, begun in 1979 and complete now through Volume VI, The Conduct of Life. These editions are not in the public domain and have not been used for this digital format. However, the first six volumes of The Collected Works are available in most libraries and from Harvard University Press.

The Walt Whitman Archive is an electronic research and teaching tool that sets out to make Whitman's vast work, for the first time, easily and conveniently accessible to scholars, students, and general readers. Whitman, America's most influential poet and one of the four or five most innovative and significant writers in United States history, is the most challenging of all American authors in terms of the textual difficulties his work presents. He left behind an enormous amount of written material, and his major life work, Leaves of Grass, went through six very different editions, each of which was issued in a number of formats, creating a book that is probably best studied as numerous distinct creations rather than as a single revised work. His many notebooks, manuscript fragments, prose essays, letters, and voluminous journalistic articles all offer key cultural and biographical contexts for his poetry.
