Getting Started...

This guide was created to assist students conducting research in MPA programming. You may use this guide to find a variety of resources available in the Library both in print and electronic format. Navigate the tabs above to see specific types of resources that are available.

Depending on the type of research you are conducting, you will most likely need a variety of resources. Some of the best resources to begin gathering ideas on your topic include reference books which can be found on the first floor of the Library. A list of good reference books can be found under the 'Find Books' tab.

Off campus students may want to search Reference ebooks.

Services for Online and Distance Education Students

All students enrolled in classes at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke are encouraged and are welcome to visit Mary Livermore Library and make use of the resources and services. However, the Library is committed to making sure that students in our distance education programs have access to materials, no matter where they live. Note: distance education students, who also come to campus, must actually retrieve materials from the Library.

If the Library has the materials that you need, we will mail them to your home address upon request. If we do not have the materials, then Interlibrary Loan Services will search other libraries nationwide to find them.

Distance education and online students have access to all the Library's databases and services, including Interlibrary Loan (Request Materials). DO NOT PAY FOR ARTICLES OFF A PUBLISHER'S WEBSITE.
